The Body Knows

Season #1

Three in the morning, wide awake again
Sheets are damp, heart is racing
I don't recognize this skin I'm in
Something's shifting, something's changing
The calendar says one thing
My body says another
Like a language I was never taught
But somehow always known

I used to run from what I felt
Now the feeling won't be held
There's a fire burning through me
And I'm learning what it means

The body knows before the mind does
The body speaks when words run dry
This isn't ending, this is turning
A tide that's been building all my life
I'm not falling apart, I'm falling open
Into something I can't yet see
The body knows, the body knows
And it's asking me to trust

Hot flash, mood swing, foggy head
Grieving cycles, I thought I'd keep forever
But underneath the los,s there's something said
A quiet voice I haven't heard in ages
She says — You spent so long
Pouring out for everyone
Now the vessel's clearing space
For what was always meant to come

I used to fear this threshold
Now I'm standing at the door
Not the woman that I've been
But not yet who I'm becoming for

The body knows before the mind does
The body speaks when words run dry
This isn't ending, this is turning
A tide that's been building all my life
I'm not falling apart, I'm falling open
Into something I can't yet see
The body knows, the body knows
And it's asking me to trust

What if this fire isn't punishment
What if this heat is sacred ground
What if everything that's burning off
Is making room for what I've always longed to find
What if the woman on the other side
Is freer, fuller, more herself
What if this is the becoming
I was always moving toward

The body knows before the mind does
The body speaks when words run dry
This isn't ending, this is turning
A tide that's been building all my life
I'm not falling apart, I'm falling open
Into something I can't yet see
The body knows, the body knows
The body knows, the body knows
And I'm learning — finally learning
To trust

This is not the end of you.
This is the beginning of her.
Let the body lead.
