Making Room for What Comes Next

Season #1

Making Room for What Comes Next

She opened up the closet door
And saw the boxes on the floor
Old paper dreams and worn-out shoes
And pieces of the life she knew
A sweater from a harder year
A stack of notes she kept too near
A hundred things she used to save
From seasons she had learned to brave

She held them in her quiet hands
Like little fragments of old plans
Some still warm with memory
Some too worn to carry free
And as she stood there in that light
She felt a truth rise up inside
If change was waiting down the road
She could not take this heavy load

So breath by breath and bit by bit
She let her heart grow still in it
And whispered soft, without regret
I’m making room for what comes next

Making room for what comes next
Clearing out the fear and stress
Laying down what she outgrew
Keeping only what rang true
Making room for peace and grace
For slower steps and breathing space
She did not need it all to stay
To walk into a brand-new day

She found old habits tucked away
Like saying yes when she'd say nay
And dreams she wore for someone else
Still sitting silent on the shelf
She found the weight of old demands
That never fit her heart or hands
And in that room she understood
That letting go could still be good

So she made piles along the wall
For what would stay and what would fall
A keep pile and a give-away
A bless-and-thank-it-for-the-day
Not out of anger, not from pain
But so her spirit could have range
And with each thing she chose to free
She felt a little more like she

The sun came softly through the glass
As if to bless what came to pass
And every choice, both small and kind
Made more room in her heart and mind

Making room for what comes next
Clearing out the fear and stress
Laying down what she outgrew
Keeping only what rang true
Making room for peace and grace
For slower steps and breathing space
She did not need it all to stay
To walk into a brand-new day

She’s not losing who she’s been
She’s letting new light enter in
She’s not erasing every mile
She’s learning how to travel light
And what she leaves will bless the ground
While something truer gathers round
A gentler life, a softer view
A road that feels more clear and true

Making room for what comes next
Clearing out the fear and stress
Laying down what she outgrew
Keeping only what rang true
Making room for peace and grace
For open hands and resting space
And with less weight upon her chest
She could say yes to what came next

So she opened wide the door
And left behind what came before
With lighter hands and steadier breath
She made room for what came next
